Author: The other of this document wasn't specifically addressed, but I would think the author would be someone of higher authority, possibly in Europe writing out the rules for the colonists. It also could be a leader of the colony writing out rules for the other colonists to follow.
Audience: Residence of Virginia Colonies
Tone: Serious, Calm
Purpose/Context: The main idea of this document is basically setting up and colonization in Virginia, with terms and conditions that come with the people settling in a new area.
The purpose of this document would be to inform not only the residents of Virginia but also the higher authorities running the colonies.
Persuasion:
-ethos-The author shows emotion in the document by his word choice. In the document, the author has excellent vocabulary that he uses to describe the organization of how life is supposed to be like in the colonies.
-pathos-The author shows credibility by his extensive knowledge of how the colony, and justice system was set up. His character really comes out by the proper word choice he uses. He was also very repetitive in all his paragraphs which shows how organized he is.
-logos-The author's logic sort of matches up with his credibility. The whole document seems logic just because of the way it it set up. It sounds like the author may have experience in leading and organizing a group of people.
